Flash is dead, stop using it.
If you are still using flash, on your websites for logos, banners and galleries, then you need to invest some time into learning to use Javascript / jQuery.
Flash is old and busted. Embedded flash is big, ugly and is always flagged as a potential advert by my ad-blocking plug-in. The only applications that you can use flash on a website for and not look too bad are:
- Streaming Video (until the browsers improve their HTML5 video codec support)
- Complicated Flash games
If you have your website's content in an embedded flash applet then this is not good at all. This is because search engines can't look inside an embedded flash applet to find out what your website is about, thereby giving you a lower ranking.
jQuery is an excellent object oriented Javascript framework and runs in your browser's processor space manipulating website elements directly. It has many freely available libraries that can be used to make your website more interactive.
